October Events (Part 2)

Note: This is the follow-up to October Events (Part 1), which lists events from Oct. 1-12.

The second half of October is, of course, your favorite and mine — the time for Halloween events! Ain’t nobody throw a Halloween party better than a goth…plus there are other alternative events that become just spooky enough in October to cross the line into goth territory, so the list of appealing events is long. Let’s see what we have to choose from this year!

Yet another spooky event on Friday, October 14 is Hexwork – A Spellbinding Burlesk Revue. This regional burlesque tour makes its Pittsburgh stop at The Parkway Theater, 644 Broadway Ave. in McKees Rocks.

Billed as “a visual feast in honor of October and all things sacred and sexy” the theme this year is a journey through an ancient black forest, full of seductive stories of monsters, wild women, gods and goddesses.

According to legend, the coven for the journey has four faces: Mab Just Mab weaves the web while the holy fool Jim Dandy – Sideshow carries the tread  and ecdysiasts Miss V and Eyrie Twilight offer their signature shimmies and creative costuming.

The special guest dancers at the Pittsburgh event are Pookie Pseu and Amoxie Villain. Boom Boom Bridgette will be giving oracle card readings, and Arts & Crafts: Botanica & Occult Shop will be vending.

Doors open at 7 p.m. with hexy flicks on the big screen, early bird drink specials from 7-8:30, and workshops with Mab Just Mab. Show starts at 9 p.m.

Tickets are $13 at the door. Advance tickets are $10 for general admission or $25 for VIP, plus fees, and are available here.
